Tentoumushi no UtaThis anime series portrays the daily life of the seven Isshu siblings who lost their father Kanta and mother Yasumi to illness. The siblings care for each other and stick together, just like the seven spots on a ladybug, and their life is full of humor and kindness.Having lost their parents, the Isshu siblings are taken under the care of their wealthy grandfather, Tetsunosuke. However, Tetsunosuke is strict towards the siblings, the children of Kanta and Yasumi who had a runaway marriage.The siblings are not on good terms with their grandfather, and they start living together in a hut build on the edge of his land. Their names come from the days of the week: Tsukimi (Monday), Kaji (Tuesday), Mizuo (Wednesday), Mokusuke (Thursday), Kintaro (Friday), Tsuchimaru (Saturday), and Hiyoko (Sunday).The eldest of the siblings is the eldest daughter Tsukimi, who is in high school; the youngest is Hiyoko, who is six years old. All seven siblings have different personalities and strengths, and while supporting each other and sometimes quarrelling, they live life without their parents with strength and courage.The seven siblings interact with the people at Shitamachi Zoo, where their late father used to work, their seven cousins, who are the children of their aunt Akemi, and their classmates at school, and learn that Tetsunosuke has actually been helping them secretly so that they can survive. Through such experiences, each of the seven siblings grows to become mentally stronger.The original was a shonen manga by Noboru Kawasaki. There are some differences between the anime version and the original, such as regarding the parents’ cause of death. Building upon the original, the anime version is a light and cheerful series with unique features in its own right. |
